Resmi, Formula 1 GP Australia Dibatalkan

MELBOURNE, KOMPAS.com - Ajang pembukaan balap Formula 1 musim 2020 di sirkuit Albert Park, Australia resmi dibatalkan. Padahal, berdasarkan jadwal laga tersebut akan dilaksanakan pada 13-15 Maret 2020.

Melalui keterangan tertulis, pihak Formula 1 dan Federasi Otomotif Internasional (FIA) menyatakan bahwa keputusan berat tersebut terpaksa diambil usai pebalap dari McLaren Racing positif terinfeksi virus corona (Covid-19) pada Kamis (12/3/2020).

"Melanjuti keputusan McLaren untuk menarik diri dari Formula 1 Grand Prix Australia karena pebalapnya dinyatakan positif Covid-19, pihak Formula 1 dan FIA langsung mengadakan pertemuan dengan sembilan prinsipal beserta tim lainnya," tulis pernyataan itu di laman resmi Formula1, Jumat (13/3/2020).

"Diskusi diakhiri dengan suara mayoritas yang menyatakan perlombaan tidak boleh dilanjutkan. Dengan dukungan penuh dari Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGCP) maka kegiatan Formula 1 untuk GP Australia dibatalkan," lanjutnya.

Tidak diketahui apakah ada perubahan jadwal menyusul pemulihan dan rehabilitas pebalap terkait, namun pihak Formula 1 berharap para penonton dan pecinta balap mobil memakluminya.

"Kami tahu bahwa ini adalah berita yang sangat mengecewakan bagi ribuan penggemar yang akan menanti dan menghadiri Formula 1. Kami bersama AGCP Motorsport Australia juga punya pertimbangan besar yaitu berkaitan dengan keselamatan semua anggota keluarga Formula 1 dan komunitas yang lebih luas," tulisnya.

Adapun para pemegang tiket untuk F1 GP Australia, akan mendapat pengembalian tiket atau refund secara penuh. Untuk informasi lanjut akan dikomunikasikan kembali.
